I thought of the podcast were really fun because I had an interview yestersday on May 7,07 with the amazing author Hazel Hutchins and she answer my questions in full detail and then today on May 8.07,at Girls Club I started worked on my script and then I practising my script and then after that I recorded my script on Audacity on this mircophone and then I listened what I recorded and the I fixed some mistakes in my script and I kept on trying until I got it right! Also I hope that everyone is enjoying doing this too.

What a fabulous piece of work! I’m playing the podcasts for my students so that they can learn more about their favourite Canadian authors. I hope you will keep this page posted for years to come – maybe you can add to your selection of authors from year to year.

Congratulations on a wonderfully original and exciting project! I have only listened to a few podcasts so far but I am looking forward to trying them all. I will certainly show the participants from our school what you students have been up to! I wonder too, if it would it be possible to get the correct answers to the jeopardy questions?
Thank you for your hard work!

I just listened to Walking With the Dead and I was really impressed with the quality of questions. Your questions got the author, L.M. Falcone, to tell her stories about herself and her story — brilliant.

Thanks for sharing these. I’ll be sharing these podcasts with the Silver Birch crew on Friday. You’ve given me ideas to use next year.

    Wow..you guys rock!!!
I really love the interviews and the Jeopardy games. I especially liked the interview with Hazel Hutchings author of Sarah and the Magic Science Project. I was surprised by some of the things she said such as that she always wanted to be an author but she changed her mind many times. Also, I was surprised to learn that if she wants to produce a picture book for kids, she has to write about 5 just to get 1 accepted. Imagine if you had to write 5 stories just so your teacher would accept 1!
Anyway, this whole project is very impressive and you all should be very proud. You have produced something that many people will be interested in.
    Congrats
    Colin

    Hello everyone,
First of all, a big “thank-you” to everyone who read
Hiding Edith and voted it for it in the Silver Birch.
I have all of you to thank for the fact that Hiding
Edith was the winner of the Silver Birch for
non-fiction. I am thrilled of course. This win was
extra special because when I went to the awards
ceremony, I actually brought the real Edith with me.
She was so excited and happy to be there, and to hear
that so many young people like you had read about her
incredible life in this book. So, thank you from Edith
    as well.

A special thank you to Annie in grade 4 for creating
such a wonderful Jeopardy game based on Hiding Edith.
You managed to create something that is fun and still
has so much information in it. Good job!

I am delighted that so many of you participated in the
Silver Birch program, and read so many wonderful
books. I hope you all have a terrific summer – one
that is filled with safe good times and lots of
    reading!

    Warm regards,
    Kathy Kacer

What a wonderful site!! I enjoyed the interview with L.M. Falcone, and I liked hearing how she conducts her research. I also like that she goes to people who will help her with her research, and in the process, she learns alot. It was interesting to hear how her grade five teacher spotlighted her writing talent. That was the impetus that motivated her to write even more. This is a wonderful site and I’m going to encourage my students to visit it.
